rganizational Role:

Candidate will work as part of our Launch Services Division (LSD) supporting the NASA payload and launch vehicle customers to ensure successful payload integration and launch. Areas of development and analysis include behaviors of the launch vehicle propulsion systems, mission-specific flight environment issues, launch vehicle testing and integrations.

Essential Roles and Responsibilities:

Responsible for analyzing and validating the flight environments (vibration, acoustics, vibro-acoustics, and shock) for the launch vehicles and their payloads.
Determine the flight environments for a mission, defining test plans for hardware qualification to these environments, and witnessing these tests and/or evaluating the test results.
Perform reviews of launch service provider documents and make technical assessments of relevant issues that arise during the integration process.
Maintain frequent communication with payload and launch vehicle counterparts and work to solve any problems or issues in a timely manner.


Required Skills Minimum

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in an engineering or a related technical field
10 years experience in engineering applications requiring analysis of dynamic loads and environments.
Experience in an aerospace/launch vehicle environment is desired.
Willingness and ability to travel domestically
Excellent oral and written communication skills; and effective technical writing and research abilities.
Strong analytical skills; excellent problem solving skills; ability to think strategically and act tactically.
Customer-first attitude

Organizational Role:

Areas of development and analysis include Computational Fluid Dynamic models, behaviors of the launch vehicle propulsion systems, mission – specific thermal issues, launch vehicle testing and integrations.

Essential Roles and Responsibilities:

Provide support to the environments for the NASA contracted launch vehicles.
Develop and analyze Computational Fluid Dynamic models to characterize and predict the behaviors of launch vehicle propulsion systems during flight.
Review and approve launch service providers test procedures and test setups for launch vehicle testing and integration activities.
Conduct detailed review of component and launch vehicle flight test data to support vehicle certification.
Interface and provide technical / thermal expertise with the Customer.
Actively participate in engineering reviews and on-console support during the launch campaign.

Required Skills

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical / Aerospace Engineering or a related technical field.
Minimum of 5 years experience in engineering applications. (Experience in an aerospace/launch vehicle environment is desired.
Proficiencies in the use of modeling/simulation and computing tools desired (SINDA, TRASYS, ANSYS, or TMG).
Good oral and written communication skills.
Effective technical writing and research abilities.
Good analytical and problem solving skills.
