Requirements:

Fantastic role working with a privately owned organization who is dominating their market-place. They currently hold over 50% of the market-share nation wide for their primary customer industry. This small (<100) but growing and profitable firm that has doubled its revenue is the last 3 years is seeking a Windows Application developer eager to work on advanced video controls and video content deliver solutions. These applications run on sophisticated, compact and robust set-top boxes.
In this position you will develop application code in full-life cycle. An adjacent role will focus on lower level embedded software. The latter requires prior video processing electronics experience but the Windows role does not. Positions will focus on the development of software for Video streaming, RF and MPEG Decoders. You will also develop and integrate software in full-life cycle projects for both custom projects, and core products. This will be a challenge and the work is fast paced and refreshing. In this position you will wear many hats and be rewarded with opportunity. Candidate should be open to Linux development and embedded systems as well. Position Summary/Accountabilities:
Follows prescribed procedures and, under direct supervision, conducts analyses to develop design options or recommendations for structures, systems and components. Provides the overall planning and design of the gas system in assigned area of responsibility. Provides routine technical support and training for the field personnel. Establishes design, maintenance and construction standards based on codes and industry standards. May work under the supervision of a senior level engineer with specific work objectives. Work may be reviewed for technical accuracy.
Job Functions:
Performs engineering work that is varied and that may be somewhat difficult in character, but usually involves limited responsibility requiring knowledge of engineering theory and practices.
Some evaluation, originality or ingenuity is required and requires independent analysis and a moderate degree of judgment. Leads and effectively coordinates activities and resources on projects in assigned area of responsibility.
Assesses the integrity of system elements with regard to corrosion control, pressure, capacity, safety and reliability. Determines need for projects and budgetary requirements to reconcile deficiencies in system elements and prepares multi-year plans. Works with field managers on budgetary and project matters.
Plans the design and layout for the production, transmission and distribution of gas including; preparing lists of materials, sketches, drawings, specifications and equipment necessary for major construction projects. Work may be reviewed by higher level professionals.
Prepares proposals and assists in negotiating and securing bids and selecting contractors for projects.
Conducts engineering studies pertaining to main sizes, capacity and pressures and feeder point locations.
Works with field personnel on operations, maintenance, customer applications, corrosion control, code compliance and other engineering problems relating to gas engineering work.
Works on the establishment and continual review of practices, procedures, plans and standards for gas to ensure compliance with codes and industry standards.
Selects materials for gas distribution through testing and assessment of available products.
Works with appropriate state regulatory agencies to prepare and receive needed approvals for gas projects. Prepares and files applications with state agencies, writes testimony and testifies in public hearings.
Works with pipeline suppliers on the design and maintenance of delivery point facilities.
Participates and conducts routine training classes for field personnel on the use of engineering standards, gas system design, operations and maintenance plan, the use of computer systems and the fundamentals of engineering.
Provides operating guidelines and system performance parameters for proper system operation and specialized equipment. Monitors system performance to ensure system operating performance is maintained.
Assists in the specification for designs of various computing systems used for engineering and operations and provides a leadership role assisting other employees in the use of such systems.
May perform other duties of a similar or related nature and may assist with other phases of engineering work as assigned.
Physical & Environmental Requirements:
Physical requirements include extended hours of driving, sitting for long periods of time, speaking in front of groups, finger dexterity, hearing and seeing. Environmental requirements include working indoors and outdoors.
Technical/Job Skill Qualifications:
The candidates must meet the following minimum qualifications, and have demonstrated the following technical or job skills:
Typically requires 4 year engineering degree.
Typically requires less than two years experience in a similar work environment.
Demonstrated basic knowledge of materials, construction standards and practices and state codes.
Ability to apply learned engineering standards to gas utilities.
Prior experience through an internship or co-op in gas/electric utilities preferred.
Working knowledge of computer operations, specifically load flow analysis and spreadsheet applications.
Must have a valid driver’s license.
