Exciting role working with a privately owned organization who is dominating their market-place. This small but growing and profitable firm that has doubled its revenue is the last several years is seeking an embedded and application software engineer to work on advanced video controls for various video content delivery mechanisms. Some of these devices are used in sophisticated, compact and robust set-top boxes. Others can be used in video displays in a variety of settings.  The primary focus of this job is the development of embedded and application software but one thing is for certain, this company doesn’t partition responsibilities between embedded, device driver and application development layer in the most rigid way. The engineers wear many hats in a vibrant team setting. You will also develop and integrate software in full-life cycle for both custom projects, and core products that may be mass-produced. This will be a challenge and the work is fast paced and refreshing. The big picture products are tangible and the internal engineering labs exude a high-tech electronics atmosphere. In this position you will wear many hats and can be rewarded with significant challenge and opportunity to learn new skills in the embedded-Linux, and low level applications markets. Skills sought:

– 5-8+ years of embedded software

– Experience with video controls, DVR or Set-top boxes or video streaming or decoders (not at the lowest level) etc.

– Prefer uClinux or embedded Linux but open to Windows and other platforms coupled with strong low level programming.

– Device driver skills in Linux or Windows DDK environment a plus

– Pluses would include experience with video imaging, camera controls, video chip-set integration, LED displays have worked on handsets, video display, digital signage, RF tuners, set-top-box, video on demand, video content delivery for universities, sporting arenas, hotels, casinos, entertainment venues etc

General Job Description:

System Engineer for the Force Battle Command Brigade and Below (FBCB2)/Battle Command Product Line (BCPL) program. Tasks include but are not limited to the following:
• Analyze parts of a complex engineering system, for the purpose of developing, deriving, and documenting requirements and concepts of operation/execution
• Translate system requirements into required software requirements and ensure flowdown to software developers; complete preliminary software design based on approved requirements
• Plan, perform, and document studies, investigations, and analysis to manage risks and ensure performance, security, and safety requirements are met
Work within the confines of a software product line includes its established plans and practices.
Participate in the domain analysis of the BCPL.Qualified candidates must be a US Citizen with preference given to candidates possessing an active secret clearance. Some occasional travel required.

The following are the Basic Qualifications for the position:

• BS/CS (some experience desired)

Knowledge and understanding of systems engineering concepts, techniques, methods, and procedures
• Ability to conduct requirements reviews, design reviews, and code reviews without help or guidance
• Knowledge of software architecture and design, especially real-time systems
• Knowledge of TCP/IP based networking, including typically used protocol stacks and formats
• Experience with MS Project, DOORS or some similar requirements or test management tool/system

Experience in the following areas is an asset:

• CCNA or equivalent networking experience
• Experience with Rational ClearCase and ClearQuest clients
• OO Software development experience, particularly in C++/Linux

• Previous experience on Army programs and battle management is desirable
Proficient with UML, particularly using Rational Rose; ability to produce use case diagrams, sequence diagrams, interface specifications, and class diagrams

– C, C++, CVI, LabView and automated test definition, development and implementation, with both software and hardware
