Required Engineering Major/Field: Mechanical

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION: Bachelors Degree in Engineering (preference to Marine or Mechanical Engineering) or equivalent.EXPERIENCE: Minimum of 10 years experience in the marine industry including 5 years in leading engineering project teams or managing multiple projects. Demonstrated experience in developing resource needs, schedule and budget estimates given a scope of work and project deadlines. Capable of clear, effective communications with engineering team, project managers, production management, owners, and customers. Working knowledge of Primavera, SolidWorks, and AutoCAD preferred.

TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Typically in office environment with routine visits to shop floor. Must be able to bend and maneuver in tight places, climb up and down ladders/ramps.WORKING CONDITIONS: Office and highly industrial manufacturing environment Heavy workload handling multiple priorities and time frames.

General Job Description:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Responsible to Chief Engineer for managing engineering projects. Assistant Chief Engineer – Acts as head of Engineering Department, reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, in the absence of the Chief Engineer. Develops Business Plan and Schedule for Major Engineering Projects, integrating it with overall Company plan and schedule. Leads/Manages Project Lead Engineers and Sales Engineer/Naval Architect including annual reviews. Manages, in conjunction with Project Lead Engineers, all major projects budgets. Ensures regular schedule and “To-Go” updates get completed. Works with Engineering Resource Manager to build engineering Project Teams. Develops engineering budgets for the Proposal/Estimating Group. Evaluates Project Team’s performance. Provides feedback to Engineering Resources Manager. Manages Engineering “Lessons Learned” & drawing “Red Line” process, providing feedback to Technical Group.
