Fast growing, dynamic firm is expanding their engineering base to support their key customers. Mechanical Design Engineer will be responsible for designing, engineering, analyzing, documenting and verifying mechanical components and systems in a scientific and systems solutions environment. Will design devices and complex sub-systems involving scientific instrumentation and related products. Will interface with vendors to facilitate the manufacture of custom designs (a background in design for manufacturability is important). The systems generally involve complex Mechanical, Electro-mechanical, embedded software and advanced GUI interfaces. Work with document control resources to publish control drawings that accurately document design intent and enable achievement of design for manufacturability goals and elimination of waste. Conduct and participate in design reviews and continual improvement projects. Will lead the mechanical engineering function for the Systems Engineering Group.

BSME + 9 years of ME design in instrumentation and or enclosure / packaging design for complex systems. A telecom, scientific instrumentation, or medical device background may be a good fit. Must have 5+ years SolidWorks experience. Experience working with electro-optical and/or laser systems highly desired. Experience with adhesives and optical component bonding solutions. Thermal design and analysis experience for electro-mechanical systems preferred. Structural design and analysis experience for electronics enclosures and optics preferred. Will have strong sheet metal and or extruded parts knowledge. Excellent systems background is necessary.
