Qualifications Required:

Requires a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or demonstrated equivalent capabilities and at least 15 years experience in mechanical or facilities engineering.

Must have experience in management and oversight of A/E design firms, construction contractors, oversight and coordination of construction activities, review of shop drawings, system commissioning and verification of system testing and performance.

Must have experience in the design, specification, procurement and construction of mechanical facilities for buildings.

Must have experience in use of AutoCAD or similar design tools, vibration isolation methods, high accuracy temperature control systems, building energy management control systems, plumbing and piping systems and mechanical services for laboratory and process equipment.

Experience in project management, including estimating construction costs, preparing schedules, developing specifications, preparing procurement documents and managing contracted services is required.

Qualifications Preferred:

Master’s degree or professional license a plus.

Experience in design and construction of fire protection systems, underground utility systems, application of earned value management (EVMS) and control system programming is a plus.

Will report to the NSLS-II Conventional Facilities Division Director. National Synchrotron Light Source II.

General Job Description:
Lead Mechanical Engineer

Will be responsible for the mechanical engineering aspects of building HVAC, controls, fire protection, chilled water, process cooling water, plumbing and underground utilities.

Responsible for planning, reviewing and monitoring the design and construction of the mechanical engineering work of the NSLS-II Conventional Facilities Division.
