General Job Description:

 

Description: Perform stress analyses and provide design input to fellow team members on complex RF, digital, photonic and power and control spacecraft electronics. Performed detailed FEA and classical hand calculations on space borne electronics hardware. Provide technical assistance to senior analysts to new and on-going hardware development as part of an integrated design team. Assist in coordinating environmental qualification testing. Provide analysis input and issue resolution support to subcontracts and key component suppliers. REQUIREMENTS: Proven technical ability in the area of stress analysis for space borne electronic hardware. Ability to work within a multi-disciplined team environment and to utilize FEA tools efficiently on tight schedules is essential. Candidate must competently distill complicated unit assemblies into feasible problems for trade studies with other mechanical engineers and articulate their results clearly in customer reviews and internal design reviews as well as in thorough documentation. A solid basis in appropriate finite element tool usage backed up with hand calculations is critical. Should possess solid FEA skills in the areas of modal analysis, random vibration analysis, fatigue analysis and thermal-stress analysis. Experience with space borne electronic hardware is highly desirable; familiarity with spacecraft environmental specification flow-down is a plus. Broad FEA tools experience (Abaqus, Patran/Nastran) highly desirable. BS in Mechanical Engineering or related technical field required; MS preferred.

Structural Analyst Skills required:
Proven ability to perform detailed FEA and hand calculations on space borne electronics hardware
Expertise at performing random vibration, thermal-stress & fatigue analysis on electronic hardware
Familiarity with shock environment specs and component capability testing
Willing to provide technical assistance to senior analysts on new and ongoing hardware development including participation in qualification review boards and failure review boards
Experience in developing qualification test plans (e.g. vibration, thermal cycling)
Ability to distill complicated electronic assemblies into feasible FEA models on tight schedules
Ability to articulate structural analyses results clearly and coherently at design reviews
Ability to clearly and concisely document structural analysis results
Experience with ABAQUS FEA Software
Familiarity with importing ProE models into Abaqus and simplifying if needed
SSBI not required though preferred
