Responsibilities:

The candidate will be responsible for: designing, documenting, managing and testing the installation of new IP customer orders for service; collaboration with Sales, customers and NOC to isolate and resolve complex trouble tickets and mitigate end-user issues with VoIP hardware and/or applications; monitoring the utilization of IP capacity and install new capacity as needed to accommodate network growth; meeting with new and established customers in order to understand their technical needs and develop IP solutions to meet those needs while following guidance and design from the network architect; working with suppliers and vendors to explore how new technology might be incorporated into our network for more cost-effective utilization of network assets; understanding future trends in telecommunication technology and assist in the development of new product offerings based on current network architecture; and developing sound business cases to support recommendations to add new network technology. The candidate may lead teams and provide direction to other engineers for special projects. The candidate will also participate as a team member at other times and work under the direction of other engineers. Job Requirements:

Bachelor degree in Engineering, Telecommunications, Networking or similar technical discipline; Certifications in telephony, IP and/or switched networks a plus. Heavy Datacom background vs. telecom. The successful candidate must have a minimum of 10-15+ years experience in telecommunications networking with 10 or more years spent solely in IP telephony voice communication networks. Strong preference for a candidate with Heavy ISP, Datacenter background with an emphasis on Network Design. The successful candidate must demonstrate superior working knowledge of VoIP/IP telephony systems, software, and hardware, including Sonus, Telica, Asterisk, SER, SIP Routers, SBC and Firewalls; superior hands-on knowledge of the configuration and optimization of VoIP equipment. The successful candidate will demonstrate working knowledge of traditional TDM networks and telecommunications carrier standards and terminology and how it applies to VoIP telephony solutions. The candidate must be current on all new transport protocols, products, and standards in support of VoIP systems development and equipment procurement. The candidate will possess the ability to interface with both a technical and non-technical audience and have good oral and written communication skills. The successful candidate must be able to understand a carrier customer’s network needs and produce an engineered solution which meets those needs while operating within both time and cost constraints. The successful candidate must be able to function both independently and in a team setting and must be capable of working with little or no direct supervision. The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to plan, organize, coordinate, prioritize, and manage multiple projects concurrently. Strong interpersonal, relationship building, negotiation, and project management skills are required for this position.
