This well-established, small but growing firm is seeking a senior software engineer to help with higher level applications associated with Video Communication electronics. Ideal candidate will come from a telecom, video communications, hardware or electronics design environment and can hit the ground running with intranet based development. The work involves developing web interface controls that tie in with lower level embedded Linux applications. The primary focus of this job is application software development for their client and customer interfaces. These projects are fast paced, challenging and on the high-end of the “wearing multiple hat” scaled. In other words, you may be asked to dip down into the embedded ranks on occasion. The engineers wear many hats in a vibrant, team setting. You will also develop and integrate software in full-life cycle for both custom projects, and core products that may be mass-produced. This will be a challenge and the work is fast paced as well as refreshing. The big picture products are tangible and the internal engineering labs exude a high-tech electronics (hardware) atmosphere that oftentimes, utilize consumer electronics to deliver the solution. Skills sought:
– 5-8+ years JavaScript and C++ (combined)
–3+ years JavaScript, Java, HTML (on the job)
– TCP/IP, Ethernet, Socket layer communications is a plus
– Must have 3+ years experience working with Linux as a development OS (not necessarily at the kernel layer)
– Plus would include experience with video controls, DVR or Set-top boxes or video streaming or decoders (not at the lowest level) etc.
– Prefer uClinux or embedded Linux
– Must have advanced web development / web controls type background but a pure IT background is probably not a fit. Seeking an engineer who has worked their way up into higher level aps and communication layer software over time.
– Pluses would include experience with video imaging, touch screens, DVR, Video Processors, camera controls, video chip-set integration, LED displays have worked on handsets, video display, digital signage, RF tuners, set-top-box, video on demand, video content delivery for universities, sporting arenas, hotels, casinos, entertainment venues etc
