Take on a vital role as the Signaling Specialist/Engineer at a rapid growth Dallas-area telecom service provider. You will coordinate strategies to define, implement and maintain voice communication architecture and interrelated network connections and hardware. Your experience with SS7, CAMEL, TCAP, INAP and similar systems will be used to deploy, debug, trace, and analyze call flows. Gather and study specifications, write test cases, and execute scenarios to ensure system efficiency. You will also manage projects involving signaling initiatives, plan technology blueprints, and optimize and configure telecom systems and services, both Internet based and TDM. Requirements
– Track record of preparing and implementing SS7 interoperability tests with incumbent operators, and experience monitoring and managing core network functions and SS7 to VoIP gateways
– Proven ability to handle escalated needs for operations team, including managing internal and external projects involving outsourced suppliers and external clients
– Direct experience with signal transfer points and signal control points Eagle, PT, and similar platforms
– Systems design and use expertise with installation, cabling wiring, tools, components, peripherals, and test accessories
– Ability to research and resolve IP telephony issues and recommend IP products
– Expertise with technical documentation, procedural manuals, and help desk processes
– Strong customer service orientation, along with experience in team-oriented, collaborative environments
– On-call availability and flexibility
– Working knowledge of UNIX and Linux, with Asterisk and other scripting languages a plus
– Deep knowledge of SS7 protocol, including MTP and ISUP, and relevant certification tests, along with expertise in SS7 systems, theory, ping pong diagrams, call-flows, message types, failure modes, and related issues
– Hands-on expertise with SIP, H 323, TCP/IP is desirable
– Operational knowledge of trap monitoring equipment, i.e., Acturna, INET, HP, or similar
– Familiarity with network topologies like ATM, ISDN and Frame Relay
– Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills and ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
– BS in telecommunications, computer science, electrical engineering or similar area, and/or 10 years experience
–Telephony, IP, and SS7 certifications desirable
