General Job Description:

Assists in the general implementation planning and operational integration of all systems, components, and equipment in support of National Airspace Systems modernization at the FAA New York Air Route Traffic Control Center located in Ronkonkoma, N ew York. Provides a comprehensive review and analysis definition of all aspects of FAA system implementation from analysis of mission needs to verification of system performance. Performs evaluation of alternatives and an assessment of risks and costs. Product to be implemented is En Route Automation Modernization (ERAM). Duties include development of site implementation plans, participation in site surveys, development of operational procedures for new systems, development of installation and transition plans, participation in system acceptance testing, identification and tracking of implementation and transition issues, evaluation of systems impact on the operational NAS environment, and development of project timelines that identify critical facility needs.

Successful completion of a full professional engineering curriculum leading to a bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited college or university. The FAA will accept Engineering-In-Training Examination (EIT) or Professional Engineering (PE) certifications in lieu of the bachelor’s degree. In place of the bachelor’s degree, the FAA will accept a minimum of ten (10) years experience involving Air Traffic Control systems and NAS planning and project coordination for the FAA or the DoD. A minimum of ten years experience in project management, coordination, implementation, and general engineering is required
